NESO Observes Black Day
GUWAHATI: The North East Students Organization (NESO) will observe ‘black day’ in the entire North East region on account of the open fire by Tripura police on the peaceful protesters on January 8 which injured over 18 people on January 12.
NESO advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya stated that this black day is observed to express their solidarity with the victims of the police firing. They plan to hoist black flags in different places in the region.
He also stated that Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar couldn’t understand the pain of indigenous people as he was of foreign origin.
The Tripura Govt had prevented a delegation of the NESO in Tripura on Friday when they went to see the injured protesters at Khumulwng hospital and this further trigged the protest.
NESO Vice Chairman Dipanka Kumar Nath said that the government cannot suppress the voice of the indigenous people of the state.
