COVID-19: With 2 More Cases in Cachar, Total Active Cases Rise to 23 in Assam
GUWAHATI: Two more passengers of the bus from Ajmer Sharif to Cachar have tested positive for coronavirus infection.
This increases the total number of cases from the same bus to 9 and the total number of active cases in Assam to 23.
After Faridul Islam first tested positive amongst the passengers in the bus on 6th May, the other 41 passengers and the staff were quarantined.
"We are expecting more positive cases amongst the passengers," said Himanta Biswa Sarma in a press conference earlier today.
Four villages of Cachar district, from where the passengers hail, have been declared as containment zones and 158 people have already been quarantined after contact tracing.
For the record, the bus had entered Assam without any prior permission from the state government.
