Guwahati Blast: 11 injured out of which 2 sustained major injuries: DCP Crime Jayant Singh
GUWAHATI: A total of 11 people sustained injury in yesterday's blast in Zoo Road, two of them are critically injured, confirmed Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Jayant Singh, Guwahati.
The injured were admitted to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) and two private hospitals here in Guwahati.
Two Sashastra Seema Bal personnel were among the injured who were admitted to the hospital. They were identified as Amulya Ratan Mahato and Ramesh Lal.
DCP Crime Jayant Singh speaking to G Plus said, "Prima Facie investigation, evidence show that it was a grenade blast but the forensic department is still investigating the spot to be sure."
According to Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, condition of most of the victims are stable now.
ULFA-I Commander in Chief Paresh Baruah took responsibility of the blast. Baruah said it was an attack on CRPF.
Following the blast, a high alert had been declared in Guwahati and all entry and exit routes have been put under surveillance.
