Mizoram in low Spirits as govt announces dry days during X'mas, New Year
GUWAHATI: Christmas and New Year’s celebrations in Mizoram will take a dip this year as Zoramthanga government decided to declare dry days from 21 December to January 14.
As per orders all liquor shops operated by state agencies shall be shut down during this period.
It is to be mentioned that Zoramthanga’s MNF government, which stormed to power in the state, promised total prohibition ahead of the polls.
However, as new legislation would require time, the new government decided to declare dry days in the Christian-majority state but said that by early next year the new government will try to legislate and clamp total prohibition on liquor.
