Now Guwahatians to pay fine for spitting, littering
GUWAHATI: The newly-launched flying squads by Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) will also penalise city residents for littering and spitting on roads, footpath, road divide or any other public place.
A total of six squads were flagged off by Guwahati Development Department (GDD) Siddhartha Bhattacharya on Tuesday, July 9. These will be responsible to attend to various issues of public like garbage cleaning and drain cleaning.
Further, the squads will also look into the garbage collection system of the city. The squads will be equipped with a vehicle and all necessary equipment to clear out garbage dumped on roadsides and it will be moving around different areas of the city.
