Six lakh liquor bottles destroyed in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Excise Minister Parimal Suklabaidya took the lead in the ongoing State government’s crackdown against illegal liquor syndicate when he ordered to smash hundreds of liquor bottles under a road roller in Lokhra area on August 10.

These bottles were seized earlier by the Excise Department and Bureau of Investigation of Economic Offences (BIEO).

The BIEO had lodged four cases – 21/2016, 22/2016, 23/2016, 24/2016 in this connection and 13 people were arrested.


The estimated amount of the destroyed liquor is said to be of Rs 168,54,31,349.

    If our Govt passes a bill that every shop owner selling pan,tobacco,cigearettes ,guthkas, liquor etc must also sale fruits ,and fruit juices. This ll certaintly hav an impact on the health of people as a whole
