Tarun Gogoi endorsesRSS model, says Congress should follow it in Assam
GUWAHATI: Former Assam chief minister, Tarun Gogoi, has endorsed the outreach model of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for its Mission 80 and advised Congress to adopt it.
The Mission 80 aims to win 80 seats in the state’s 2021 Assembly election.
According to a report by The Hindu, Gogoi said that he opposes the RSS’ ideology, however, he appreciates the way the organisation, which is the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) backbone, i
s able to reach out to people at the grassroots level.
Gogoi further stated that the reason behind Congress’ debacle is its “dwindling mass contact” and thus, the party must follow the RSS model to reconnect with people excluding their religious ideology.
He also advised that Congress make a separate RSS-like cadre for mobilising mass support and gauge the mood of the masses to win at least 80 of the 126 Assembly seats.
