GUWAHATI: The outlawed United Liberation Front of Assam, Independent (ULFA-I) led by Paresh Baruah is contacting the old cadres of the outfit to carry out their subversive activities, Guwahati Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar informed G Plus.

“The ULFA-I has weakened financially. Today, the young generation of the state is focused on pursuing studies and securing a job. No one is interested to join the banned outfit. So left with no choice, the ULFA-I is contacting the old cadres,” said Kumar.

He further added that the outfit is trying to form an over ground group to carry on their activities. They provide logistic support and the cadres, in return, popularise the ideologies of the outfit.
