Guwahati Adda – The Pre-Election Vibe

*Two friends receive notification on their phones about petrol, diesel and liquor prices being slashed*

Debo: Abbey I am so happy right now! I feel like getting a bottle of whiskey and filling up my petrol tank!

Himan: I know right! This news just tempts me to actually vote for the BJP.

Debo: Well, it is a very well timed announcement. They have already filled up their coffers. They might as well make a strategic cut too!

Himan: But what is a five rupee slash really going to do?

Debo: True. A five rupee hike feels like a big hit, but a five rupee slash, eh, barely fills the wound. Pun intended?

Himan: I don’t think that was a pun, but I get your point.

Debo: But I am amazed these days when I roam around the city. It’s like Guwahati is so happening!

Himan: You know that a couple of flyovers, footover bridges with disco lights and colourful hoardings plastered across town are making you feel this way right?

Debo: That may be the case, but this year feels a little different. I feel like there is a sense of excitement, at least here in Guwahati, about how things are going to change in the next two months. I don’t necessarily mean politically, but I feel like the winds have a different energy flowing with them.

Himan: Bro, you need to get off those suggested Facebook videos about energy change and spiritual animals and yada yada. It’s toying with your head.

Debo: Like it or not, they determine and advise you on more of your decisions than you think. Trust me. For now, let’s just think about what to drink for the night!
