Himjyoti Talukdar’s ‘Calendar’ released
Assamese film Calendar released on February 16, Friday in different theatres across the state.
Written and directed by Himjyoti Talukdar and produced by Himjyoti Talukdar and Dikhit Das under the banner of ‘Enajori Talkies’, Calendar is about the lives of a retired teacher and his wife. The screenplay of the film has been penned by Himjyoti Talukdar, Santanu Rowmuria and Jhulan Krishna Mahanta.
The film revolves around Hitesh Kakati, a retired teacher who lives with his wife Manorama Kakati happily in a small town. Their son, newly married Arunav, stays in Delhi with his non-Assamese wife. Both the son and daughter-in-law are very dear to Hitesh and Manorama Kakati, and they too love their parents a lot. But the situation gradually changes when Arunav comes home during Magh Bihu and tells Manorama about a major problem he is facing in his professional life. Manorama becomes tensed after getting to know of Arunav’s crisis and plans to help him in her own way. On the other hand, Manorama always notes down her monthly activities in a yearly calendar gifted by Kakati on New Year. She marks every event in that particular calendar with a circle mentioning the event name. But she marks a few dates with circles without mentioning anything which then leads to a different tale surfacing that devastates Hitesh Kakati.
The key roles in the film have been essayed by Arun Nath, Malaya Goswami, Gunjan Bhardwaj and Rimjhim Deka among others. The film’s music has been scored by Tarali Sarma, whereas the cinematography of the film has been done by Dikhit Das around some beautiful locations of Dergaon. The film’s associate director and editor is Jhulan Krishna Mahanta, sound designer is Debajit Gayan, DI Colorist is Sujit Bora, graphics has been done by Deepjyoti Handique and Ajay Chetia. The co-producers are Subhas Bora, Arunav Gogoi, Jyotirmoyee Shree, Dambarudhar Das, Trinayan Bora, Anindya Barua, Dhanjit Kalita and Abhigyan Borah. The executive producers are JP Nath and Partha Mahanta. The video of the title track ‘Jibone Umole Jamole’ of the film has been penned by Santanu Rowmuria and rendered by Siddharth Hazarika and the promotional track, written and sung by Tarali Sarma, has already been released and has become a hit among the music lovers.
As a part of the film’s promotion, a New Year calendar is also being distributed all over Assam.
