Mizoram Government extends Dry Day till March 10
GUWAHATI: Mizo National Front government (MNF) led government has extended the dry day till March 10.
According to an official statement, Mizoram government has decided that dry day period has been extended from January 15 to March 10 in view of Republic Day and Chapchar Kut festival, hence enabling the people to celebrate the events under a peaceful atmosphere.
Earlier as a prelude to bringing legislation to ban liquor in the Christianity dominated Mizoram, the new government declared dry day from December 21, 2018, to January 14, 2019.
It is to be mentioned that MNF had promised to bring back the Mizoram Liquor Total Prohibition Act (MLTP), 1995 which was replaced in 2014 by Congress.
