Assam-born head coach at US university honoured
GUWAHATI: Bidyut Kumar Goswami, a native from Assam, is being honoured for his 37 years of service as men’s tennis head coach at Columbia University in New York, one of the eight prestigious Ivy League universities in the United States of America.
Goswami has led the Lions of Columbia to victory with 13 Ivy league titles and has had the most long-tenured career in the history of tennis at the university.
To honor his legacy, the position of the head coach is now renamed as Bidyut K. Goswami Head coach of men’s tennis following his retirement at the end of the 2019 season.
He is being succeeded by his current associate Howard Endleman.
