Doordarshan Announces Return of Shaktimaan
GUWAHATI: After Ramayana and Mahabharata, Doordarshan is also bringing back another popular show Shaktimaan.
Shaktimaan is touted to be India's first superhero show. The show will go on air for a time slot of one hour from April 2020 at 1 pm.
"Doordarshan is all set to telecast Shaktimaan, the famous serial featuring Mukesh Khanna, for 1-hour daily on DD National network from April 2020 at 1 PM," informed Government of India.
Lead actor of the show, Mukesh Khanna, 61, too had tweeted that 130 crore Indians will together get the opportunity to watch Shaktiman on DD once again.
In the show, Mukesh Khanna played the role of Shaktimaan and his alter ego 'Pandit Gangadhar Vidhyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastri', a photographer for the newspaper Aaj Ki Aawaz. Shaktimaan was a human with super powers.
Khanna, who was already a household name thanks to his role as Bhishma in Mahabharata, found another fan base among children in the late 1990s.
The show Shaktimaan aired on DD1 from 1997 to 2005.
The show was followed by "Shaktimaan: The Animated Series" in 2011 and a television film titled "Humara Hero Shaktimaan" in 2013.
