GUWAHATI: National award-winning filmmaker Rima Das announced that she would make a film on Assam's sprinter Hima Das.

Both Rima and Hima became youth sensations in the country after their tremendous achievements in their respective fields. Both have got international fame around the same time.

Rima, originally from Chaygaon in lower Assam’s Kamrup district, became an icon of Assamese filmmaking after winning the best feature film of India title this year for her Assamese film 'Village Rockstars'.

On the other hand, despite the lack of proper sports infrastructure in the State, sprinter Hima Das who comes from Dhing in central Assam’s Nagaon district became the sports icon of India after winning the 400-metre gold medal at the IAAF World Under-20 Athletics Championships 2018 at Tampere in Finland this year.

Speaking to media Rima said “I have always wanted to make films on sports and music. Moreover, I love positive stories. So I want to tell the story of Hima through a film.”
