21 sites allotted across Kamrup (M) for sale of crackers ahead of Diwali
GUWAHATI: With Diwali around the corner, the Kamrup Metro district administration on November 1 issued strict guidelines for sale of firecrackers.
Addressing the media, Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup(M) Virendra Mittal informed that around 21 sites have been allotted for the sale of firecrackers across the city. He further added that the permission for sale of firecrackers should be taken from the respective police stations by the vendors.
Additionally, the district administration has put a ban on the sale of crackers at unauthorized places and has urged the people to switch to eco-friendly or pollution-free crackers.
Earlier this week, the Supreme Court had fixed 8 PM to 10 PM as the time period for the bursting of firecrackers on Diwali. Adhering to the order from Supreme Court, the district administration has also appealed the people to refrain themselves from bursting crackers after 10 pm.
