GUWAHATI: Launching its attack against the AGP, the State unit of the Congress accused the party of backstabbing the people of the state by forging re-alliance with the BJP for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
APCC senior Spokesperson Joynath Sarma said that the Regional party has squashed the people's movement against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.
Sarma also questioned AGP chief Atul Bora for forgetting his own words when he gave up his ministerial position in protest against the Bill and have also asked him to come clean in public regarding their stand.
He further alleged that the regional party have secretly supported the bill because of the condition that was set by the State BJP for re-alliance with the party.
It is to be mentioned that the AGP-BJP decided to fight together for the Lok Sabha election after a late-night meeting that took place between the AGP and BJP in the presence of the BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav at Guwahati on 12 March 2019.
