The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) legislature party has sat for a hunger strike on Thursday, Jan 24, at Dighalipukhuri, as a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016.

The strike began on 6 am and will continue till evening.

AGP President and former state minister Atul Bora, and senior AGP member Brindaban Goswami also joined the hunger strike.

"Assam is burning today, and Assamese identity and culture is facing a crisis. During this vulnerable time, Sarbananda Sonowal and his govt is only thinking of their votes. We condemn this act, and consider that the govt is responsible for this situation in the state," said Atul Bora.
