Amit Shah to Sign Accord with Bodo Rebel Group Today

GUWAHATI: The Centre is all set to sign an accord with all factions of banned Assam-based rebel group National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) on January 27.

Bodo treaty will be signed at 1.30 PM today.

According to reports, the tripartite agreement will be signed in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal by top leadership of the four factions of the NDFB, Joint Secretary in the Home Ministry Satyendra Garg and Assam C
hief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna.

The four factions of the NDFB, which will sign the pact, are led by Ranjan Daimari, Govinda Basumatary, Dhiren Boro and B Saoraigra.

It is to be mentioned that the Gauhati High Court on January 25 gave interim bail to Ranjan Daimary and will be flown to New Delhi.

As per the new treaty, the existing BTC will be upgraded to Bodoland Union Council and all the four factions of the NDFB, ABSU and Bodo political elites have endorsed it.

Meanwhile Assam State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is the convener of North-East Democratic Alliance, said no new village or area would be added to the BTAD under the new accord.
