Assam: 12 kg Monkey Meat, 5 Heads Recovered from Poachers in Sonapur
GUWAHATI: 12 kilograms of monkey meat were recovered from two poachers in Sonapur on 17th November.
In a joint operation conducted by Sonapur Police, the Indian army, the crime branch, and forest officials, two poachers were arrested from Medhikuchi of Upper Tepesia Village in the Sonapur area.
Alongside the 12 kgs of meat, the heads of five monkeys were also recovered. Further, two rifles and 11 rounds of live ammunition were also fou
nd in their possession.
"The duo, hailing from Garo hills, was hiding in a hut at a paddy field and they have been arrested under the Wildlife Protection Act," said Pranab Baishya, officer-in-charge of Sonapur Police Station speaking to G Plus.
