Assam: 4 Forest Officials Killed In Accident, 2 Critically Injured
GUWAHATI: In a tragic incident, four forest workers were killed while two others sustained serve injuries early Friday morning, August 30 at Gaurisagar in Sivasagar district.
According to the reports, the forest officials were returning to the headquarters in a Gypsy after an expedition of chasing off wild elephants when their car was knocked down by a 'Night Super' (bus) along National Highway 37 at Hatighuli Suntali, following which their car fell into a gorge.
The deceased has been identified as Priyam Mech, the driver of the vehicle, Bipul Hazarika, a guard, and two forest workers Prasanta Dutta and Nizamuddin Ahamed.
In addition, two other Sivasagar Forest division workers, Bubul Barua and guard Nazimuddin were admitted to Sivasagar civil hospital and later shifted to Dibrugarh Medical College.
Meanwhile, police have sent the bodies for post mortem to Sivasagar civil hospital.
