GUWAHATI: In the wake of the implementation of the ban of single-use-plastic, Baksa district in Assam has already adopted a new way to move away from plastic by serving food on banana leaves.

Reportedly, under the banner of Swachh Bharat Mission - Gramin, Baksa PHE Division has taken the initiative to sensitize the community to discard single-use plastic and are motivating people to save money by using banana leaves instead.

These banana leaves are easily available in villages in the form of plates and bowls for any occasion.

The officials of the PHE division are also motivating people to save money by not buying plastic plates and by using banana leaves instead, which are fully biodegradable.
