Assam: Cable Operator Commits Suicide Over New Framework by TRAI
GUWAHATI: Facing difficulties over migrating to a new regulatory framework notified by TRAI, a cable operator from Tezpur, Prabhas Paul alias Chinu (55) committed suicide on March 1 at his residence.
He was facing difficulties over migrating to new regulatory framework notified by TRAI. A suicide note was found near his body where he mentioned the reason behind his suicide. He was harassed by his service provider, Ruben (Bolen) Saikia who was not giving him any support to cope
with the present migration of cable TV to the new regulatory framework.
Prabhas had been running the cable TV Network as LCO of Tezpur Cable Network for 23 years before his death.
The Tezpur Cable Network is associated with Axom Cable Communication (ACC), a joint venture of Siti Cable.
It should be noted that many other operators have threatened to commit suicide after being unable to handle the pressure of the migration process.
