Assam Congress Unites with 5 Political Parties to Oust BJP

GUWAHATI: The Assam Congress has formed a united front ahead of the Assam Assembly polls. The party has claimed that the alliance will be to fight the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) out of power in the state. 


The five political parties that united with the Congress include CPM, CPI, CPI (ML), Anchalik Gana Morcha (AGM) and the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF). 

"We have united with the political parties to ous
t the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and save Assam," said Ripun Bora, President, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC). The APCC President has further invited the regional parties to join the united front.

"We invite the regional parties to join hands with us against our fight to remove the ruling Government from Assam. Our doors are open for all Anti-BJP parties," Bora posted on Twitter.

So far one of the regional parties AGM led by Ajit Kumar Bhuyan has joined the united alliance. "We believe people of Assam will support us in replacing the anti-Assamese Government led by BJP," Bhuyan stated on the matter.
