Assam Crosses 30,000 Active COVID Cases as Positivity Rate Rises

GUWAHATI: Assam recorded 2098 fresh COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, September 24. The cases were detected from all across the state, out of 29,896 COVID tests conducted. 

This was informed by the Health Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Sarma wrote, "Alert ~ 2098 #COVID cases detected today out of 29896 tests." 

The positivity rate for the infection has risen to 7.02%. 

With this, the total number of COVID cases in Assam has gone up to 1,63,491.

Further, with 1,762 patients discharged from various hospitals within the last 24 hours, active cases in Assam stands at 30,182 while 1,32,709 persons have been cured of the virus. 

The COVID-19 death toll in Assam stands at 597.
