GUWAHATI: As Assam is all set to celebrate Durga Puja with fervor, a ‘Shani Mandir’ in Nagaon has come up with a unique concept to attract people by decorating its pandal and idols with around 1200 kilos of ‘Masoor Dal’.

Speaking to G Plus, the secretary of the temple, Kishan Gupta, said idols of Ganesha, Durga, Kartik, Saraswati and Laxmi are being made with the dal. He added that only wasted ‘dal’ is being used to create the idols which will later be immersed in the town’s Nehru bali area.

Gupta also stated that he hopes that this year their unique decoration will attract more people towards their pandal, however, the incessant rainfall is delaying the idol making process.
