Assam Girl Tanisha Kashyap serves up a storm; clinches Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship Trophy

Tanisha Kashyap of Assam has clinched the country's most prestigious National title by winning the Final of Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship, U-16 which was held from 9th Oct – 14th Oct 2017 in the National capital, New Delhi, DLTA complex.

Tanisha in her journey to final did not lose a single set in any round and has defeated all her opponents by thumping margins. In the final, Tanisha outplayed Prinkle Singh of Chandigarh by 6-1, 6-4 to claim the coveted title.

 

Primarily coached by her father Suresh Kalita, Tanisha is doing advanced training under former Davis Cup player and coach Vishal Uppal and being guided by London 2012 Olympian Rushmi Chakravarthi.

Tanisha, a committed and hardworking athlete has brought laurels and pride to the state of Assam and will be inspiring for many upcoming junior players from the state.

She is also the only Assamese player to make it to Wimbledon at any level.
