GUWAHATI: In a bid to curb the COVID-19 disease in Assam, especially in Guwahati, the state government has imposed a total lockdown in entire Kamrup starting June 28 midnight.

Moreover, the rest of Assam has also been placed under certain conditions that would dissuade gatherings. The Weekend Lockdown applicable in the rest of Assam is one such exercise.

Meanwhile the Centre has decided to amend the ‘Unlock 1’ rules via the newly issued ‘Unlock 2’ guidelines, nationwide which seeks to further open up the economy.

Speaking to G Plus, Assam Chief Secretary, Kumar Sanjay Krishna said, "As of now, situation in Assam remains unchanged. No more relaxation. We will take a view after 12th July."

Notably Guwahati has seen a massive rise in COVID-19 positive cases with 1,816 reported as on July 2, 2020.
