Assam Health Dept to Undertake Community Surveillance to Combat Malaria, Influenza, and COVID-19
GUWAHATI: Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a press conference on 7th May, said that the health department, along with the district administrations, would administer testing of villagers across Assam under the Assam Community Surveillance Programme.
Health workers along with MPS, Asha and ANMs workers will be visiting villages to collect samples from villagers which will be tested for malaria, acute respiratory disesase and minor flu, along with COVID-19.
This is being underataken to combat not just the spread of coronavirus, but also tackle malaria and influenza.
"Apart from testing in villages, random testing would continue across the state for coronavirus infected patients," said Himanta Biswa Sarma.
