Hearing & speech impaired man from Assam found in Kolkata with the help of social media
GUWAHATI: A 26-year-old hearing and speech impaired man, who had gone missing from his home in Jorhat, Assam was found in Kolkata after police used social media platforms to find his address and reunited him with his family on Sunday, June 30.
According to a report by The Times of India, police identified the youth as Rebokanta Nayak. He was seen at Ramlila Garden in Sinthee on June 27, following which he was admitted to a hospital.
Police authorities posted his photographs and sketches on their Facebook page and tagged Assam Police’s social media handles.
In the meantime, a friend of the 26-year-old identified his photo and contacted Sinthee police and told them that the later was a resident of Hemlai tea estate in Jorhat and that he had been missing from his home since June 19.
The friend also contacted Nayak’s family and on Sunday, his father reached Kolkata and was able to reunite with his son.
