Assam MLAs want Hima Das to replace Priyanka Chopra
GUWAHATI: The Autumn Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly saw a lot of uproar as Congress MLAs Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha and Rupjyoti Kurmi wanted to know the signing amount of Assam Tourism brand ambassador Priyanka Chopra. The MLAs were not happy with the answer provided by state tourism minister, Chandan Brahma and then demanded that sprinter Hima Das should be appointed as the Assam Tourism brand ambassador.
"Priyanka Chopra has been made the brand ambassador of Assam Tourism. If there is an agreement we need to see it and know how much has been paid. The answer that we got was the amount signed could not be disclosed due to the terms of the agreement. This is our money, it belongs to the people of Assam and we should be informed about it," said Purkayastha.
Mariani MLA, Rupjyoti Kurmi was concerned that Priyanka is about to get married and won’t be easily available. It would mean that the tourist footfall is going to get a hit, hence, Hima Das who is now internationally known should be made the brand ambassador, demanded Kurmi.
