Assam: More than 1,000 ex-AASU Members Join BJP

G Plus News | November 12, 2020 16:08 hrs

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister (CM) Sarbananda Sonowal has claimed that "more than 1,000 ex-AASU members from different districts of Assam joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)."

The move comes ahead of the Assam Assembly Elections 2021.

However, the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) has refuted such claims as an impression to indicate erosion from AASU. Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a Central Committee m
ember told G Plus, "No one from the top-level has joined the party."

The AASU member further revealed that "The names we have received had all joined earlier. Mostly the members of lower level unit have joined the BJP".
