Assam: No Immersion Procession During Vishwakarma and Durga Puja this Year
GUWAHATI: The Assam government allowed the celebration of Vishwakarma Puja and Durga Puja with restrictions stipulating the presence of only 30 persons in a pandal at any given time, including 20 devotees.
The immersion procession which is one of the major attractions of the puja has been completely restricted and only five persons will be allowed to immerse the idol.
"No permission for any immersion procession shall be given under any circumstances. Maximum of 5 persons shall be allowed to complete the ritual of immersion," states the order by the Assam government.
Deputy Commissioners shall make necessary arrangements to ensure that immersion is staggered over three day period to avoid congestion and large gathering on any one day.
