Assam Prepared to Treat 5,000 Coronavirus Patients
GUWAHATI: Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that Assam is now prepared to treat 5,000 Covid-19 patients.
"In the last 2 months we have prepared ourselves to treat 5,000 patients with our meticulous planning," said Sarma. “Enough doors will open,” the minister added.
However, at a given time the state can treat 1000 COVID-19 patients.
"We will not be opening all hospitals simultaneously for COVID-19 treatment like other states. When one facility is full another hospital will be prepared," added Sarma.
Apart from 5,000 beds, Sarma also informed that the state has enough paramedics.
Apart from the current strength of 2,000, out of the 488 doctors who have registered to provide voluntary service when required, 210 have confirmed and are on stand-by if required.
The volunteer doctors would be servicing by various means, be it tele-medicines or treating directly in hospitals etc.
