Assam University restricts protests inside its Campus Premises
GUWAHATI: Authorities at Assam University in Silchar have issued a special directive that prohibits any kind of dharna or rally inside the university premises on Friday, January 11.
The directive states that any dharna or rally inside the campus premises are prohibited without prior approval from the respective authorities. This directive comes following widespread protests by 3000 odd students. It also prohibits any unauthorized reporting with immediate effect.
The directive also states that if anyone is found violating the orders, they will be held responsible according to the rules.
The students of the university, who are backed by the All Assam Students Union (AASU) had earlier bought out a rally on January 9, opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. The protesters sat outside the main entrance of the university in protest.
