GUWAHATI: The strike by students of Assam University in Silchar entered its eighth day on Monday February 17, whereas the hunger strike entered the sixth day.
As per reports, seven students were hospitalised till Sunday.
Students have boycotted classes for the past week and have been protesting against the recent order of the university regarding rustication of student leader Milon Das for allegedly exposing corruption in the university to
light. Reportedly, the university authorities have also lodged an FIR against Das.
Das has been given a suspension order for a period of two years.
The students have been sitting in protest outside the main gate of the university for the past week. It is to be mentioned that the union human resource development ministry has not taken note of the matter yet.
However, as per reports, the university authorities have tried to reach out to students to bring about a solution, but the students have said that they will continue with their agitation until the FIR against Das is withdrawn and his rustication order is revoked.
