Assam Women's U-23 Cricket Team arrives late to Airport; misses flight
GUWAHATI: The Assam Women's U-23 Cricket team was left stranded at the Jaipur Airport earlier today. The team was meant to arrive in Guwahati from Jaipur on a morning 8:05 AM Spicejet flight.
However, the team arrived only 45 minutes before the flight’s departure, led by their Team Manager, Binita Gogoi. It is to be mentioned that passengers are expected to arrive at least 2 hours before the departure of the flight. Assam Cricket Association will issue a show-cause notice the team manager.
Speaking to Devajit Lon Saikia, General Secretary, Assam Cricket Association, “The team manager brought the team only 45 minutes before the flight’s departure. The team manager is responsible for this fiasco and the ACA has issued a show cause notice to her.”
The 17-18 team members were also carrying a lot of luggage making the experience even worse. The team has now been forced to spend an additional night in Jaipur. “We have arranged for a hotel in Jaipur in the last minute. With the Jaipur Literary Festival currently underway, most of the hotels are also packed. All flights leaving today were full and they are scheduled to arrive tomorrow,” Saikia added.
