Bhut Jolokia: Assam Police’s new crowd controlling weapon
GUWAHATI: Assam Police has added a new bhut jolokia-based grenade to its existing pool of non-lethal weapons to control crowd and disperse mobs.
Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the bhut jolokia-based weapon can be mixed with hand grenades.
As per reports, Assam Police is planning to use bhut jolokia paste or powder in teargas shells for dispersing violent protesters or rioters.
The bhut jolokia or ghost chilli was accepted by Guinness World Records in 2007 as the world’s spiciest chilli. It is an interspecific hybrid chilli pepper cultivated in the Northeast Indian states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, and Manipur.
