BJP Will Always Stand by People of Assam: JP Nadda
GUWAHATI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda today said that his party is committed to protect the unique culture and language of the state and will always stand by the people of Assam.
“From Assam agitation to conferring Bharat Ratna to Dr Bhupen Hazarkia and Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi, BJP has always been with the people of Assam. We remain etched to our commitment to preserve your culture and language,” said Nadda addressing a public rally in Silc
har in Barak Valley region of the state today.
Nadda is the second among the BJP top brass to visit the state in a little over a fortnight after Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit on December 26-27.
Nadda, who is on a two-day tour in poll bound Assam, said that it’s only BJP which has always thought about the people of Assam and their welfare. Nadda said that the Bodo crisis which was hanging for nearly 50 decades as well the Bru-Reang crisis was resolved by the BJP-led government at the Centre. Taking a potshot on Congress in Assam, Nadda said during 15 years of Congress rule, the northeast region got only Rs 50,000 crores for development. However, the Modi government provided Rs 3 lakh crores for the development of the northeastern state.
Exuding confidence after winning back to back the Bodo and Tiwa council elections in Assam, Nadda said that in the upcoming assembly elections BJP will come out with flying colors.
Listing down BJP government’s achievements, Nadda said that Assam today is 100 per cent open defecation free, and out of the 11 crore toilets built, 35 lakh were built here.
