Brahmaputra flowing above danger level in Guwahati
GUWAHATI: The water level of the river Brahmaputra is rising everyday following incessant rain all over Assam.
It is to be mentioned that the part of the Brahmaputra which flows through Guwahati is now flowing above the danger mark.
Reportedly, water has entered Ajan Pir Park located in Fancy Bazaar, flooding the area completely. The famous Chakreshwar Temple in Kalipur, wherein the vertical pillar in the river that serves to indicate the height reached by Brahmaputra's water during flood, has almost reached near the feet of the statue of Lord Vishnu.
The Inland Water Transport department has already asked the ferry services between Guwahati and North Guwahati to stop its services owing to increasing water level in Brahmaputra.
Meanwhile, the authorities have ordered to shut Ajan Pir park for a period of 10 days.
