Centre to Bear Expenses of First Phase of Vaccine Roll-Out

GUWAHATI: In a meeting with the Chief Ministers of states regarding COVID-19 vaccine roll-out, Prime Minister (PM) of India Narendra Modi has stated that the centre will bear the expenses of vaccinating around 3 crore healthcare workers in the first phase of vaccination. 

“If you look at the number of health & frontline workers across all states, it stands at around 3 crores. It has been decided that state govts will not have to bear the expenses of vaccinatio
n of these 3 crore people in the first phase. Govt of India will bear these expenses,” news agency ANI quoted PM Modi as saying.

The Prime Minister stated that "Around 3 crore healthcare workers and front line workers will be vaccinated in the first phase of vaccination. In the 2nd phase, those above 50 years and those under 50 years with co-morbid conditions will be vaccinated.”

Further, the Centre has aimed to vaccinate 30 crore people in the next few months.
