Cyberbullies make life hell for city girl, Maneka Gandhi comes out in support
GUWAHATI: Social networking site Facebook can sometimes become a hub of dirty tricks and a platform for abuse.
In a recent incident, a girl named Papri Banerjee, had to take the extreme step when she was mentally harassed by a few nerds, skilful enough to humiliate her with photoshop images of hers in bad taste. The issue came to light when Papri took to social media platforms, Facebook and Twitter, to write about the harassment.
Banerjee took refuge in the social media page of Assam Police and lodged a complaint, wherein she also looped in G Plus to relate the incident.
Assam Police soon got in touch with the victim, apprised the Crime Branch and a case has been registered at the Chandmari Police Station.

Interestingly, Union Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi has come out in support of Papri. In a tweet the minister has asked the victim to share the details of the case with the ministry. The Assam Police has also responded to the minister's tweet.
