Fourth Earthquake Jolt Arunachal Pradesh in 24 Hours
GUWAHATI: An earthquake with a 5.5 magnitude on Richter Scale hit East Kameng, Arunachal Pradesh at 4:24 AM on July 20 informed Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
Earlier, on July 19, three earthquakes of 5.6, 3.8 and 4.9 magnitude hit Arunachal Pradesh within minutes of each other, according to the MeT Department. The tremors were felt in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland and adjoining areas of the Northeast.
However, there have been no reports of injuries or damage to buildings by the earthquakes that lasted a few seconds each time.
According to seismologists, the north-eastern region comes under "Zone 5" on the seismic map, making the states susceptible to earthquakes. "Zone 5" covers the areas with the highest risks.
