Guppy on city tour; promotes Youth Championship amongst masses

With the 2017 AIBA Youth Women’s World Championship just a week away, the Boxing Federation of India in its endeavor to promote the event amongst the masses has rolled-out an extensive promotional campaign starting today.

The ten day long activity will see the official mascot ‘Guppy’ taking a tour of the city and visit schools, residential colonies and important hubs of Guwahati to raise awareness about the mega-event.  

Around 200 young boxers form
36 countries will participate in the championship which starts from November 19th.

As per the promotions, Guppy interacted with the locals and indulged them in exciting contests. A boxing ring was also set and Guppy threw an open challenge to the fans for a bout.

“The promotional activity is crucial for the success of the tournament. We want to create a euphoric environment in the city and want to reach out to every single individual in the city” Debojjo Maharshi, Chairman, Marketing Commisson, BFI said.

 “Through this promotional event, we also want to the urge the residents to comeforward and extend a warm welcome to the athletes and dignitaries and make sure that they have a wonderful stay here,” he added.
