Guwahati: ‘Happy Fridge’ installed at Ganeshguri to Feed the Needy
GUWAHATI : The Guwahati Chapter of Zomato Feeding India inaugurated a ‘Happy Fridge’ in the city on Monday, January 12. The Zero Hunger Point, as it is called, is the first-of-its-kind in the state.
Happy Fridge is a community intervention project to help feed the needy. The people behind the initiative told G Plus, “People who are left with extra food can leave the excess amount in the fridge and anyone in need can immediately and anonymously access this food, with dignity.”
Assam Police DGP, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta and Swapanali Mahanta, President of Assam Police Wives Welfare Association inaugurated the Happy Fridge which is installed at Deorah Complex, Guwahati.
Apart from food, even clothes can be donated for those in need. Water supply has also been provided with proper hygiene.

The organisation’s volunteers and vehicles collect the donated items or people can directly leave food in the fridge, informed the organisers.
