Guwahati: National Child Commission takes Cognizance of Specially-Abled Child Allegedly Beaten During Lockdown
GUWAHATI: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has issued a reminder to Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kamrup Metro to submit a detailed inquiry/investigation report to the commission within seven days.
The issue is related to a complaint regarding a specially-abled minor child, Bighu Chaliha, who was allegedly beaten by the police personnel of Bharalumukh Police Station in Guwahati.
The NCPCR was expected to receive a report on t
he matter. However, the commission stated that so far there has been no investigation report from the Assam government. As such it has reminded the DC to submit a report to the commission within seven days.
Earlier, reports surfaced of a specially-abled child being brutally beaten by the police in the Bharalumukh area of Guwahati on July 23.
The video was posted by his father (Palash Chaliha) in which he said, "Why Bharalumukh police beat my special child without any reason?"
In the video which went viral on social media, the child could be seen on a bed with marks of assault on his back.
