Guwahati Police Recovers 40 Invaluable Idols from Brahmaputra

GUWAHATI: The city police recovered as many as 40 idols from the Brahmaputra in Guwahati. 

According to reports, idols of gods and goddesses along with lamps, conches, tridents, plaques, temple door latches were recovered from the Brahmaputra riverbed at Uzanbazar.

Latasil Police along with the help of SDRF team conducted an operation after a man felt some hard objects beneath the water while taking a bath in the ghat and pulled out an idol of Lord Shiva. 

Latasil Police said that an enquiry has been initiated to find out how the idols and other items landed in Brahmaputra River.

Meanwhile the newly appointed DGP, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta applauded the Latasil police and SDRF personnel for successfully recovering the statues and rewarded the team for their efforts.
