Guwahati to get 3 new parks
Residents of Guwahati will be getting get three more parks in the city. Out of these, two will be set up by Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA). The parks will be set up at Adabari, Hengrabari and Fancy Bazar.
According to reports, the park will be set up on the premises of the old central jail at Fancy Bazaar and will be named Guwahati Central Park. The project is worth Rs 58.39 Cr has and the proposal has been approved by the State Government. The work for the park
is slated to start in June and the tender is likely to be out shortly.
The tender notice has already been published for the parks at Adabari and Hengrabari. The Adabari park will be set up at a cost of Rs 10 Cr. The park at Hengrabari will be set up on a land owned by the Khadi and Village Industry Department. The Hengrabari park is a Rs. 12 Cr project for which, work is likely to start in April.
GMDA will also carry out a survey to find more open spaces so that these places may be developed into parks.
