Guwahati Traffic Police's New Method to Check Alcohol Count on New Year Eve
GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Traffic Police has come up with a new method to check the alcohol count of commuters ahead of the New Year celebrations.
Due to the COVID-19 protocols, breadth analysers were not used to check the alcohol count of the Guwahatians. This was a loophole utilised by the commuters to escape police checking.
This has been recognised by the Traffic Police department. As per DCP Traffic Pranjit Bora, the Traffic Police along with
Transport Department and the Excise Department are now teaming up on 31st December to catch alcohol violaters.
"We will undertake extensive checking across Guwahati and we have obtained an experimental device from the excise department, which will be able to check alcoholic levels without making contact," added Pranjit Bora.
The checking with the new device will be done in selected areas in a random fashion across Guwahati.
