Guwahati: Welding Sparks Fall on Passersby from Under-Construction Foot Over Bridges
GUWAHATI: The foot over bridge construction activity on the GS Road stretch of Guwahati has caused some major problems for the daily commuters passing underneath.
Traffic jams can be seen in the peripheries of the construction site every day.
Residents have earlier complained that the proposed escalators will reduce the space of the GS Road, thereby causing more traffic problems. This has affected especially the cab commuters who find it difficult to
commute as the road blocks the two-way movements of cars. Traffic jams can still be considered as a temporary problem.
The major issue now is that of the sparks emanating from the ongoing welding work that are falling freely from the foot-over bridges. Bikes, cycles, and pedestrians walking below the ongoing construction foot-over bridges have found it increasingly difficult to commute.
Currently, there are major constructions going on around the Ganeshguri flyover vicinity: one before the Post Office signal, the other in front of JBs Sweets, and one opposite to the Kar Bhawan. The sparks from the construction fall on the passersby, especially from the two foot-over bridges being constructed on the Christian Basti side.
"I was driving my bike and I could feel sparks falling on me. It has become difficult to commute in the area," a resident from Chachal, VIP Road told G Plus.
