Guwahati: Zubeen Garg Attacked Last Night at Ganeshguri

GUWAHATI: Singer Zubeen Garg was attacked last night at around 12:40 am by six people near the Ganesh Mandir at Ganeshguri, Guwahati.  

An FIR has been filed by Zubeen at the Dispur Police Station in this regard. As per the FIR a Maruti Ciaz with registration number AS 01BY 0675 overtook Garg's vehicle near Ganesh Mandir. After haulting, about six people came out and started abusing the singer verbally and "defamed" him. 

Reportedly the attackers were drunk as they were holding beer bottles during the night curfew hours.

Speaking to the media, Commissioner of Police Munna Prasad Gupta has confirmed that a case has been registered and it's currently under investigation.

"We will arrest the miscreants and charge them as per law," he said. 

Notably, after Zubeen Garg was proposed to be appointed as the brand ambassador of the agriculture and allied sectors of the state by the government, people have been giving mixed response across social media platforms. Many have even alleged that the popular singer has joined politics.
